A room is where you sleep; a retreat is what you remember. Guests increasingly build their stays around our spa cabins, the garden pavilion and the lake itself — so here is the full menu of slow things to do.

The spa, in one unhurried day

Start with the eucalyptus steam, move to the sauna, then lose an hour between the two plunge loungers. Our therapists recommend the signature lake-stone massage at midday — warm basalt, cold marble, and botanical oil pressed from our own rosemary beds.

Treatments under canvas

From May to October, two treatment beds move into the garden pavilion. A facial accompanied by actual birdsong sounds like a small thing until you have tried it. Pavilion slots go first, so reserve yours when you book the room.

Wellness here is not a programme. It is permission.

On the water

The house boat leaves the private jetty twice daily: a sunrise loop with coffee and a sunset loop with something colder. Private charters run to the island vineyard and the waterfall cove — both worth the half day, neither worth rushing.

Into the hills

Our chauffeured car reaches the hill villages in forty minutes. Go for the market on Saturdays, the monastery viewpoint on Sundays, and the cheese dairy whenever it is open — which, delightfully, is whenever the cheese is ready.
